The Sauerland Forest Route
The quality hiking trail "Sauerland-Waldroute" is an absolute highlight and also runs through Balve. This route not only leads through the picturesque heights of the Balve Forest, but also past Luisenhütte. A first-class circular route awaits hikers here. The trail also leads through the mystical and legendary Hönnetal.
The Hönnetal is known for its impressive caves and striking rock formations, which create a unique and fascinating landscape backdrop. On this hiking route, hikers experience the impressive diversity of nature, accompanied by a touch of mysticism and history.

Legend stations
Sometimes spooky, sometimes humorous, but always exciting are the old legends from the Sauerland. On your way along the forest route, you will pass the so-called legend stations. These tell eerily beautiful stories that are said to have happened - or something similar - at that very spot. Get to know the World Dog, the Seven Virgins and other legendary creatures. Visit the spooky places where gnomes, witches, ghostly builders and cudgel dogs are said to have wreaked havoc.
In the appropriate audio guide, you will be accompanied by forest route ranger Lukas, who will tell you more about the myths and stories along the route. Please note: The audio guides are only available in German.
